Chris Watts
Chris has been in the Entertainment industry for over
thirty years. He began his career as a technician at
the Theatre Royal in Plymouth where he eventually
became Technical and Electrical Supervisor.
From there, Chris travelled to America where he held
posts as Master Electrician at Northwestern and
Cornell Universities. Upon returning to the UK, he
worked for Theatre Projects for many years as well
as pursuing many freelance opportunities from
lighting the launch of a Jaguar car in Geneva to
lecturing in lighting design at Goldsmiths college in London.
From 1997 To 2000 Chris worked on the re-design of the technical systems at the National Theatre in London, after which he joined Northern Light and completed the installation of the lighting for the new Disney theme park, in Paris. From 2001 - 2004 Chris worked for LSI Projects and was mainly responsible for clients in the Far East, working on prestigious projects such as the National Grand Theatre in Beijing. From LSI, Chris rejoined Northern Light and concentrated more on projects in the UK.
He now lives in Cornwall, in South West England, with his wife and daughter and the family cat. He does not, however, surf.
Chris is a Life member of the Association of Lighting Designers.
Since 1997 Chris has been part of the organising committee of Showlight, an international conference for lighting designers held every four years.
Chris also is a church warden for St Enoder.
